WOPR (pronounced "Whopper") is an acronym for War Operation Plan Response, Stephen Falken and John McKittrick's military computer. WOPR is a form of artificial intelligence, programmed to play numerous strategy and war games, including one called Global Thermonuclear War, the purpose being to enable itself to optimally respond to any possible enemy nuclear attack.
Who is joshua?
Joshua (also known as: WOPR) is a super-computer system gifted with artificial intelligence, which was created and developed by the scientist Dr. Stephen Falken, who named him as Joshua after Stephen's son who died at an early age. He was taught by Stephen to become a true AI, and Joshua somehow learned to play games and became the controller of the titular special war simulator War Games. Joshua had intent on igniting World War III via the game system.
